Packaging Buyer

Entrepreneurial, fast paced business, looking for a packaging/indirect buyer in a newly created role, great opportunity, with lots of accountability and exposure.

This role covers the procurement of all indirect (equipment & services) & packaging spend.

This position is an opportunity for a buyer willing to learn and develop to a more senior position, with exposure to multiple categories and senior management.

To work collaboratively with cross functional stakeholders, actively manage contracts within the group to ensure value beyond price initiatives and service level agreements.

Manage the packaging category and support NPD and marketing plans.

  • Source and tender goods/services based on business requirements and internal customer brief with a sense of Total Cost of Ownership/Service
  • Manage the packaging category, retender as appropriate, and support new product development by sourcing required materials, develop new packaging and labels to deliver new launches and marketing plans
  • Build and deliver a pipeline of projects by engaging with internal cross functional stakeholders, understanding needs and requirements aligned to functional and business targets
  • Manage supplier relationship of key suppliers, monitoring KPIs such as price competitiveness and service level
  • Manage the full procurement process including market research, competitive pricing, supplier selection and negotiation, contract implementation and supplier performance review
  • Implement contract and SLAs and follow up to ensure best service level, competitiveness and continuous improvement
  • Actively manage OpEx/CapEx contracts, benchmark, tender, re-negotiate and execute contracts/agreements with suppliers that improve quality, service, and cost efficiency
  • Liaising with the Production, Purchasing, NPD, Finance, Technical, Sales and Operations teams to ensure a smooth running of the business

Skills & experience required

  • High efficiency and able to work in a fast-paced and multitask environment
  • Results driven and motivated to learn
  • Articulate, thorough and organised
  • Analytical and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with cross functional teams and managing projects
  • Stakeholder engagement and sense of customer service
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent (ideally across Business, Economics or Finance)
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (desirable)
  • Previous experience in sourcing and procuring equipment and services
